Our mission is to promote and prepare students in the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) fields. Students are to prepared for higher education and career readiness.

The California Partnership Academy (CPA) Eco-Engineering Program offers students from all grade levels (9th to 12th) the opportunity to be exposed to Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) curriculum through project-based learning. The Career Technical Education (CTE) courses that are offered consist of Introduction to Design (ID), Principles of Engineering (POE), Civil Engineering and Architecture (CEA), and Engineering Research and Development; in addition, academic courses such as Science, English, and Social Science are included as part of the Academy program. These courses emphasize clean technologies and renewable energy concepts. ID and POE are articulated with San Diego City Community College (SDCCC) Courses: Manufacturing Engineering Technology (MFET), 101 Intro to Engineering Technology, and MFET 105 Print Reading and Symbology, respectively. Engineering Design is the industrial sector that is related to the academy.

Business partners, mentors, and advisory board members include professional architects and engineers from different sectors, namely: construction, manufacturing, environmental, and government. The companies represented by the business partners are PCL Constructions, Turner, Universal Mechanical and Engineering Contractors (UMEC), NASSCO, Solar Turbines, WiLD COAST, among others. The ACE mentors have been working with Southwest High students for more than 6 years. A number of scholarships (approximately $75,000.00) have been granted to these students to continue their education at a college level in an engineering field. Certificates of completion in “Manufacturing Engineering Technology” have been granted to our students through the SDCCC. The CTE teachers are certified by the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) to certify students in technical trades. Many students have benefited from this program regardless of whether they pursue a higher education or decide to join the workforce.
